Event Details

Culvert is the most flexible secondary indexing framework in the world for BigTable-like systems and it's available on github.com

Culvert ntegrates with current, hand-rolled indexes easily and has built-in indexes of its own. Moreover, it is a powerful query engine. When you do queries, a Java-based SQL-like syntax is used to query the underlying database; the index tables are handled for you - just build your query the way you want it.

Most recently, Culvert has added support for Accumulo-1.3.4 as well as HBase-0.92.

However, Culvert needs some love. There are a host of things on the roadmap (see github) as well as several other ideas floating around for improvements

Agenda:

- Discuss roadmap

- Hack on Culvert

- Drink beers

There are Culvert developers around the nation, so this will primarily be a digitial event. However, attendees are encouraged to get together so we can consolidate as much as possible (as makes the after-party more fun).

UPDATE:

The Google hangout for the event will be:

https://plus.google.com/hangouts/extras/talk.google.com/culverthackathon

The hangout will 'officially' begin at Noon PST, this Saturday! Get excited!
